Rastreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust is a 60 year old trust managing 25 institutions including R. V. College of Engineering and D.A. Pandu Memorial R. V. Dental College and Hospital. The institutions have 18,000 students and 4,000 teaching and non teaching staff.

D.A. Pandu Memorial R. V. Dental College and Hospital was established in the year 1992, affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and recognized by Dental Council of India. The college offers both Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S.) and Master of Dental Surgery (M.D.S.) in 8 specialties.

The college out reach programmes in rural areas and schools of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh with mobile dental van facilities has conducted 768 camps and treated 2,75,515 patients free of cost.

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is headed by Dr. S. Girish Rao. The faculty members are Dr. Sunil V. and Dr. Rajkumar (Assistant Professors) and Dr. Aravind A. (Lecturer).

The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery deals with the complete spectrum of maxillofacial surgery including

Craniofacial deformities
Facial trauma
Oral cancers and
Facial deformities.

Our department has the distinction of working in association with the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in development of indigenous oral implants. The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery is associated with National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in the management of Craniofacial trauma and tumors. We are also involved with the Indian Institute of Science in research in molecular biology.

76 cases of Cleft Lip and Palate, 13 cases of facial deformities and one case of Temporomandibular Joint Ankylosis has been treated surgically free of cost by donations received from our trust and philanthropists. Liberal contributions towards free treatment of the deprived patients are appreciated. Cheque may be drawn in favour of Rastreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust Bangalore. Donations will receive Income Tax Exemptions.

Department of Oral and Maxillo Facial Surgery is spread over 5000 sq.ft with the facility of 21 Dental Chairs.

The Department offers a Post Graduate training program with an intake of 2 seats per year. The department is well equipped and comprises of all basic surgical instruments to the latest, sophisticated gadgetry.
The post graduate and under graduate students receive a good learning experience by constantly exposed to a wide variety of case.

The Department is headed by Dr.S.Girish Rao, M.D.S, FDSRCS, FFDRCSI & followed by an able team of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. The Department provides all kinds of Oral and Maxillo Facial treatment at the minimum cost to patients, which starts from extractions of teeth to major Maxillo facial surgeries.

Impactions, Trauma, Implants, Cleft lip and Palate, Cysts & Tumors, Oral Cancer, Orthognathic surgeries, Cranio Facial surgeries are commonly performed by the Maxillofacial Surgeons.

The Department has tied with hospitals of acclaim in Bangalore, such as Bangalore Institute of Oncology, NIMHANS and Sevakshetra Hospital where our team of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons perform the surgeries.
The Department is actively involved in research work.

The Department is one among a few selected institutions in India, which is doing clinical studies of indigenous dental implants developed by the Defence Research & Development Organisation, India.
Joint project with the Dept.of Molecular Reproduction, Development and Genetics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore on TGF- b expression & Micro array expression in Oral Sub Mucous Fibrosis And Oral Cancer
There is also an outgoing research work with Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bangalore for the use of Hyperbaric oxygen therapy in the healing of post operative Oral & Maxillofacial Cysts & Implants.
